I read the line four times.

Not low. Not uncertain. Zero.
I sat down on the kitchen floor with my back against the dishwasher.

"Danielle," I said. "Probably."

The Kessler Freight gala was in the ballroom of the Hilton downtown.

A banner over the stage said Thirty Years on the Road.
I wore dark green.
Long sleeves, a low back, my hair cut to my shoulders.
