Chapter 10: Hana's Place
Hana lived above a bakery on Thames Street in Fells Point, up a back stairway that smelled like rye.
She didn't speak on the stairs.
She held my wrist the whole way, two steps ahead of me.
At the top she got the key in on the second try, shoved the door open, and kicked it shut behind us.
Then she turned and put me against it.
"I have eleven hours before the venue walk-through," she said. "I've decided how I'm spending them."
"Hana."
"Don't talk. You've talked enough for one day."
She reached up and took my glasses off.
She folded them, carefully, and set them on a shelf beside the door.
"There," she said. "Now we find out if you're any good without those."
"I can't see you."
"Good. Feel me."
She kissed me again, harder than the first time, with her whole small body pressed against mine.
Her hands went under my canvas jacket and shoved it off my shoulders.
It hit the floor.
She pulled my shirt up over my head, and I raised my arms and let her.
"You're built like a man who used to load trucks," she said, running her palms down my chest.
"I used to."
"Don't ever stop."
She bit my shoulder, and I made a sound I'd never made in the Price house.
I got both hands under her thighs and lifted her.
She weighed nothing.
She wrapped her legs around my waist and laughed into my mouth.
"Not the counter," she said. "My landlord sells bagels downstairs. Bedroom. Left."
I carried her down a short hall, kicking a pair of platform sneakers out of the way.
Her bedroom was small and a mess.
The tour schedule was taped to the wall in four colors, and a headset lay tangled on the pillow.
She slid down my body until her feet touched the floor, then shoved me by the chest.
I sat down on the edge of the mattress.
She stood in front of me and took off her bomber jacket.
She peeled her black tank top over her head, and she wasn't wearing anything under it.
I stopped breathing.
Her breasts were small and firm, with dark nipples already tight in the cool air, and a thin silver chain lay between them.
"Say something," Hana said.
"I'm trying to be a man who can."
"Try harder."
"You're the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
"That was easy," she said, and her voice cracked a little.
She climbed into my lap, straddled me, and put her mouth on my neck.
I held her hips.
She rocked against me slowly, grinding down over my jeans, and my cock went so hard it hurt.
"There he is," she whispered. "I was starting to worry."
"I've been worried for fourteen months."
She leaned back and looked at me.
"What does that mean?"
