Chapter 11: The Old Bed
I tied his wrists to the iron headboard with the black ribbon from my grandmother's sala.
It was a good ribbon, two inches wide, the kind she sewed on church banners, and it did not slip.
"Is it too tight?" I asked.
"No."
"Pull."
He pulled, and the headboard rang, and the knots held.
"Good," I said. "Now you can't touch me until I say."
The apartment behind his office on the twelfth floor held a bed, a lamp and one wooden chair.
Cardboard boxes stood along one wall.
He had told me, when I asked, that the rest was being repainted.
I had not asked a second time.
I had made a rule of it that night in the doorway, with his hands already on me.
"No questions until Friday," I had said. "Not one."
"Friday," he had agreed, and kissed me.
Now he lay naked on a bare mattress under the lamp, with his arms stretched over his head and his chest rising and falling.
I stood at the foot of the bed in my slip.
I took my time.
I slid one strap down my shoulder, and then the other, and let the silk slide over my hips to the floor.
His eyes followed it down and came back up.
"Reyna," he said, hoarse. "Please."
"Not yet."
I climbed onto the bed on my knees.
I crawled up his body slowly, kissing as I went, his belly, his ribs, the hollow of his throat.
His cock lay thick and hard against his stomach and I did not touch it.
I took the loose end of the ribbon and drew it down the middle of his chest.
I dragged it over his stomach and across the tops of his thighs.
The muscles in his legs jumped.
I trailed it up the inside of one thigh, and stopped an inch short of his balls.
"Reyna."
"Hush."
I bent and closed my teeth on his nipple, just hard enough, and he arched against the ribbon.
I licked the sting away.
I did it to the other side, and he swore at the ceiling in a voice that shook.
"You like that," I said.
"I like everything you do."
"Then lie still and like it."
