Chapter 17: Sloth
Fin walked me into the small black room and set me down against the wall.
Then he sat down across from me with his back to the other wall.
His black arm was cracked at the elbow. The cracks weren't closing.
"How long do we wait," I said.
"I don't know."
"You're the judge."
"Sloth doesn't have a clock. That's the point of it."
I put my head back against the stone.
"So we sit here."
"Everyone sits. Nobody does anything. Whoever gets up first fails."
"How long does it usually take."
Fin didn't answer.
"How long, Fin."
"Four days," he said.
I looked at him.
"Four days."
"Once."
"Once out of how many."
He didn't answer that either.
I sat there and did the math and didn't like any of it.
"We don't have four days," I said.
"We do. You don't."
"What does that mean."
