Chapter 17: Not Leaving

Bram took the phone out of my hand.

He scrolled to the bottom and back up, slowly.

Then he stood up in his jeans and nothing else.

He walked to the rail and looked down at the street.

"You're not sleeping on Sixth Street again until this is over," he said.

"I've slept there for years."

"Not this week, Rosalind."

"It's over a laundromat. Very glamorous. Nobody's going to come rob me for my hot plate."

He didn't laugh.

He took out his own phone and made a call, his voice clipped.

"All of you. Penthouse. Now."

By seven, the four of them were in the living room.

I was on the sofa in Bram's black shirt with a cup of hotel coffee.

Nobody had to be reminded of the rule anymore.

Ewan didn't look up from the release on his tablet.

"You're leaving Las Vegas," Cian said.

I put my coffee down.

"Excuse me?"

"Not forever. Two weeks. There's a house at Lake Tahoe. It's got a dock and a boat and absolutely no reporters."

"And a library," Fenn said quietly. "I'll ship whatever you want. Your Rebecca."
