Nan's POV

He went still under me.

The whole length of him was hard against my thighs, and his hands closed on my hips.

"Nan. Don't."

"Article nine says a bite taken without the guardian's word is void," I said.

"I know what it says."

"Carrie read it six times. It says nothing about a ward who bites her Alpha."

His eyes had gone fully gold.

"Nobody has ever tried it," he said.

"Then nobody can say it's void."

I leaned down until my mouth was by his ear.

"I'm not asking whether you'd let me, Dane. I'm asking whether you want it."

He didn't answer.

He didn't have to. I could hear his heart, and I had never been able to hear anyone's.
