Chapter 21: Fern

Trudy stayed at the bakery until midnight, washing dishes with the baker's wife and telling anyone who asked that she was too old to sleep.

Nobody asked twice.

Cameron shut the cabin door behind us, and I was against it before the latch clicked.

I got both hands in his coat and pulled him down by the lapels.

He kissed me so hard the back of my head knocked the wood.

"You're mine," I said into his mouth. "You said it in front of the whole town."

"I did."

"Say it again."

"I'm yours, Mel." His hands were on my face. "I've been yours since the first week. I was just too stupid to say so."

I unbuttoned his shirt, one button at a time, and he let me.

When it was open I pushed my palms flat over his chest and felt his heart going hard under them.

He tugged the sweater over my head.

My bra followed, and then he had me by the hips and was walking me backward through the dark to the bed in the back room.

The mattress creaked.

He laid me down and stood over me and took off the rest of his clothes, while I watched.

He was already hard.

"Come here," I said.

"Not yet."

He knelt between my knees and kissed the inside of one thigh, and then the other.

He took his time.

He licked me until I was wet and shaking, his tongue on my clit and two fingers inside me.

I fisted the quilt and told him to fuck me, now, please.

"Not yet," he said again, and he smiled against my skin.

Then he lay back on the mattress and pulled me over him.

"On top," he said. "I want to watch you."

I straddled him carefully, with my belly between us, and took his cock in my hand.

I rubbed the head through my wet folds, once, twice, and he groaned and gripped my thighs.
