He Chose My Sister, So I Left Him With Nothing novel · Chapter 26 of 32
Chapter 26: Inspection
The town beach on Friday morning looked like a county fair with no rides.
There was a white tent at the water's edge with a long table under it.
Three judges sat behind it. Two from the state association, one from the town. A big screen stood on a frame beside them, wired to a laptop.
About three hundred people stood behind the rope line with folding chairs and coolers.
The marshal stood at the end of the table with his arms folded.
The local paper was there. So was a news van from Traverse City with a mast on the roof.
Five companies had entered the Cup. Two from downstate, one from Wisconsin, Moss Brothers, Blue Hour.
And Shepard Pyro.
Dustin stood by the tent in a navy blazer with his hired operator, a tired man from downstate with a license clipped to his lanyard.
The older one from my old crew stood behind them in a Shepard Pyro shirt. He looked like he hadn't slept.
My parents were in the third row of chairs.
Chelsea wasn't there.
She'd texted me at seven. "Feet too big. Go get him."
