Lakeshore's lawyer was on his feet.
"Objection. This is a licensing hearing about Ms. Wardlow. That document has nothing to do with her."
"It has to do with the screen she walked past," the widow said.
The woman in half-glasses looked at the widow for a long moment.
"Ma'am, who are you?"
"My husband died in Lakeshore's waiting room on February 3." She set the binder down on the end of the long table. "He was a mailman. Thirty-four years. This nurse sat with me in the parking ramp until the sun came up."
"This isn't on the agenda."
"Neither was he."
Nobody on the panel said anything.
The widow turned her highlighted sheet around and read it out loud, in her plain flat Milwaukee voice.
"Eleven-oh-four. My husband checks in. Chest pain he calls indigestion. The screen gives him a 3."
"Eleven-twenty. A sprained ankle checks in. Gold flag. The screen gives him a 6."
"Eleven-thirty-one. A migraine. Gold flag. A 6."
"The ankle is seen at eleven-forty. The migraine at twelve-fifteen."
She put the paper down.
"The charge nurse moved my husband up four times. It put him back four times. They found him at two-forty."
