Chapter 11: First Tuesday
On the first Tuesday of February, Cathal woke me at six by putting his mouth on the back of my neck.
Gray winter light came through the curtains.
I lay on my side with my back against his chest and his arm heavy across my waist, and I did not open my eyes.
"Don't," I said, smiling into the pillow.
"You've got to be up for the bakery in an hour."
"I called the owner," he said, against my skin.
"You have the day off."
"You called my boss?"
"I told her you'd be unavoidably detained," said Cathal.
He kissed the line of my spine, one vertebra at a time, down to the hollow at its base.
I stretched and arched into him, and felt him hard against the curve of my ass.
"You've been awake a while," I said.
"An hour."
"Doing what?"
"Looking at you," he said.
His hand slid from my waist up to my breast.
He cupped it, warm and slow, and rolled my nipple between two fingers until it hardened.
A quiet sigh escaped me as I pushed back against him.
"I like when you're sleepy," he said.
"You don't argue."
"I'm still arguing," I said.
"Good. Argue."
His other hand moved down my belly and between my legs.
I was already wet from his mouth on my neck, and he found me easily.
He touched me lightly, in long, lazy strokes, with the pad of one finger sliding around my clit and back.
The slowness made me ache.
"Cathal."
"I've got all morning," he said.
"I'm going to die."
"No, you're not," he said.
"You're going to come on my hand, in my bed, and then I'm going to do it again."
He did.
He did not hurry.
He built it up slowly, with his chest warm along my back and his mouth on my shoulder.
