Chapter 16: Twenty-Four Weeks
The pool deck had been cut into the cliff, and at midnight the stone still held the day's heat.
Jamie stood barefoot on it in Roman's grey shirt and nothing else, with twenty-four weeks of belly pushing the hem up at the front.
The pool lay below him, black and lit from underneath.
Beyond it the Pacific went on forever, and a sliver of moon lay on the water.
"You said you wanted air," Roman said, from the door.
"I do."
"It's cold."
"It's not cold. You're cold. I'm pregnant, I'm a furnace." Jamie crooked a finger. "Come here."
Roman came down the three steps in a pair of low sweatpants, nothing else.
The scar shone in the pool light all the way from his temple to his hip.
He did not turn the left side away.
He had not turned it away for eight weeks.
Jamie noticed it every time.
"Take them off," Jamie said.
"Out here?"
"Nobody comes down the cliff, you told me yourself. The cleaner doesn't come until Tuesday and the sea doesn't have eyes."
"The sea has everything else."
"Roman."
Roman pushed the sweatpants down and stepped out of them.
The cock was already full and heavy against his thigh, and he stood there in the open air without any attempt to cover it.
Jamie looked, and it was a long slow look, and he took his time over it.
"On the stone," he said. "Sit. Back against the wall."
Roman sat, with his back to the warm rock and his legs stretched out.
Jamie dropped down in front of him on his knees, on the stone, and a hand shot out to cushion the fall.
"Careful."
"I'm fine."
"The belly..."
"Has been fine for six months. Be quiet and let me."
He bent forward over the curve of himself, which was awkward and slightly ridiculous, and took the cock in his mouth.
