Chapter 20: Moonset
Delaney hit the doors with both hands.
They didn't move.
The twins stood with their backs against them, arms folded, one on each side.
"Let me out," she said.
"No," said the bigger one.
She spun around.
Two hundred faces were looking at her.
The wedding flowers had been knocked off the benches.
Her silk hem was soaked red at the bottom from the wine on the floor.
"I told you the truth," she said to the hall. "I told you what he did. You heard me."
"We heard you," said the old Lochsa Alpha. "Now we'll hear them."
He looked down from the dais at the pack.
"Anyone she lied to," he said. "Say it to her face."
For a long moment nobody moved.
Then the gray twin pushed himself off the door.
"In August you asked me to teach you to grapple," he said. "Out behind the garage. You made me take you by the arms."
Delaney's face didn't move.
"Harder, you said. You said you bruised like a peach."
His voice cracked. "The next day you came back from the falls with my fingers on you."
