Chapter 30: The Cards

The clock on his wall said ten to six, and then it said six.

Ivo stood up from his desk.

He walked to the door and turned the lock, and the click went through me.

"It's after six," he said.

"I noticed."

"You're nobody's anything."

"And you're nobody's boss."

"Then come here, Joelle."

I crossed his office and dropped the flyer on his blotter on my way.
