Chapter 28: Day 365
Beau's POV
The shares vested at nine in the morning on the fifteenth of October.
I sat in the office of my grandfather's second lawyer, with Sabra in the room.
I knew the minute because I had counted down to it for a year.
The lawyer read the paragraph in a dry voice.
He stated that the testator's grandson had been married three hundred and sixty-five days, that the spouse was present, and that the marriage subsisted.
Then he signed, and a notary signed, and I owned fifty-one percent of Ravenel Terminals.
I felt nothing.
I felt exactly as I had the day before.
Clarice, in the corner, blew her nose into a large handkerchief and said that she had a cold.
The state had taken my father into custody at ten the night before.
They did it in the parking garage of the Oglethorpe Club, where he had gone to have a drink.
