Chapter 19: The Aquarium
They went on a date on Sunday, and they were awful at it.
"You have to buy the tickets," Tomoya said at the aquarium entrance.
"You have to buy them."
"I'm the one who suggested it."
"That's why it's your turn."
The girl in the ticket booth looked at them for a long moment.
"Two adults," Ren said finally, and put down a card. "He's paying me back."
"I am not."
"You are."
"Enjoy your day," the girl said, in the tone of someone who had already made a bet with her coworker.
The Sunshine Aquarium sat on the roof of a Tokyo shopping tower, in the open air.
The whole place was full of families and children with plastic balloons.
Tomoya hadn't been to an aquarium since he was nine.
They walked past the sea lions.
They stopped at the penguins.
"Count them," Ren said.
