My Roommate Hates Me, So He Only Kisses Me in the Dark novel · Chapter 14 of 24
Chapter 14: Take One
Linus slept on Dag's floor for four nights, on two sofa cushions and a sleeping bag that smelled like campfire.
Room 214 was across the hall and one door down, and he did not go in.
On Monday he went back to the housing office and asked for a transfer.
The gray-haired clerk typed for a long moment and shook her head.
"Nothing in the honors wing until January," she said. "I can put you on the list."
"Put me on the list."
She stamped the form, and for the second time that semester he walked out thinking he had won.
On Tuesday Dag cooked him a pot of soup and asked no questions.
On Wednesday Linus went to Lit 210, because it was a class, and he had never skipped a class in his life.
He took the seat by the window and kept his eyes on the board.
