Stranded in an Empty Hall With My Injured Roommate, I Slipped and Took His Towel With Me novel · Chapter 21 of 24

Chapter 21: The Vote

Noah held the form in both hands on the library steps.

Mr Whelan didn't wait for an answer.

He patted Noah's shoulder once, heavily, and went down the steps toward the car park.

Halfway there he turned around.

"Seven o'clock," he called. "Wear something that isn't a hoodie. It's thirty-six degrees."

At five past seven on Thursday the common room was full.

Not team full.

Hall full.

People sat on the arms of the couches and on the pool table and on the floor in rows.

First-years crowded the doorway.

Somebody had propped the fire door open for air, and people were standing out on the grass looking in through the windows.

The warden sat in a plastic chair at the side with his reading glasses on his head.

Mr Whelan stood against the back wall with his arms folded, a head taller than anyone near him.

The team sat at the front on the two long couches.

Eighteen of them, in their Kurrajong polos.

There was a whiteboard behind them with VOTE written on it and two names.

SUTTON. WHELAN.

Noah stood near the door with Bec.

He wasn't wearing the hoodie.

Damian was at the end of the second couch.

He saw Noah come in.
