Chapter 21: Ask Me Tomorrow

Wynn's POV

The door to my rooms at the Keep locked from the inside.

On my first night, I had been the only one with a key.

I turned it behind us now, and the bolt shot home.

Torin looked at it, and then at me.

"You remember that," he said.

"I remember everything about that night. You stepped back from me so fast you hit the wall."

"I was afraid of what I'd do."

"And now?"

"Now I'm afraid of what I won't."

I pushed him against the door and kissed him.

He kissed me back hungrily, with one hand in my braid and the other flat against the small of my back.

I felt the whole long hard length of him against me.

I tugged his shirt out of his trousers.

"Take it off," I said.

"Wynn."

"Tonight I'm saying everything out loud.

"Take it off. Then I want your hands on me and your mouth on me.

"And I want you to stop being careful."

He pulled the shirt over his head.

I put my palm flat over his heart, and it hammered under my hand.

I undid his belt myself.

He lifted me then, with his hands under my thighs and my back against the cold wood.

I wrapped my legs around him.

He ground against me through the cloth, once, and I gasped.

"Say it again," he said, against my throat.

"Careful isn't what I want."

He carried me to the bed, pulled my shirt over my head and put me down on my stomach.
