She was the one who undid his belt, and her hands were not steady.

"Slowly," Chu said into her hair.

"I do not want slowly."

"I know." He caught her wrists and held them, and she made a sound in her throat. "I want to see you."

He untied the gray quilted jacket and pushed it off her shoulders.

Under it the white gown was thin as paper.

She was warm and slight and shaking, and when his thumbs found the knot at her collar she tipped her head back and shut her eyes.

The gown fell open.

He kissed up the inside of her leg, over the knee, along the tender skin of her thigh, and she shook under him.

When he reached the top she was already wet.

She cried out, one short surprised sound, and then clapped her hand over her own mouth.

"There are guards," she gasped.

"Then be quiet."

He did not let up.
