Chapter 19: Taken

The black lacquered bed in the Azure Gate Fort still had its chains.

Mo lifted one and let it clink.

"I thought you'd taken them down."

"I could not bring myself to," Han said.

Mo laughed, deep in his chest.

Then he sat on the edge of the bed, took Han by the belt, and drew him between his knees.

The room was dark.

Moonlight lay in long white bars across the floor, and the bath beyond the screen breathed warm cloud.

Qin Shu had posted two loyal guards at the gate, and bolted every door.

For the first time in three days, nobody wanted anything from them.

"Take your robe off," Mo said.

Han did.

He stood bare in the moonlight, and Mo looked up at him, red eyes soft, and set his mouth against Han's stomach.

"I thought about this in the Court," Mo murmured, "while you were being magnificent."

"I thought, I will take him home, and I will go slowly."

"You always say slowly."

"This time I mean it."

He laid Han down on the black sheets and lay beside him, chest to back, one arm under Han's neck.

Han had never been held like this.

Every other lover had been a duel, a contest, a thing to win.

Mo simply fit around him, big and warm, and pressed a kiss to his shoulder.

A hand slid down his belly.

It found him already half hard, and took its time.

"Mm," Mo breathed against his ear. "There you are."
