Chapter 11: Suite 3201
The door of Suite 3201 had not finished closing when Elias put him against it.
Damon's head hit the wood.
Elias's mouth was on his, hard and wet and rough.
One hand cupped the back of his skull, and the other was already tearing at the studs of his shirt.
"You said it," Elias said against his lips. "In front of all of them. You said it."
"I said I was taken. Don't make it a speech."
"I'm going to make it a lot of things."
He dragged the jacket off Damon's shoulders and let it fall, and pulled the shirt out of his waistband.
Then he stopped, with his hands flat on Damon's chest.
"Window," he said.
The suite was the whole corner of the thirty-second floor.
Two walls of glass looked out on the black rectangle of the park.
Beyond it ran the lit spine of Fifth Avenue and the glitter of the whole city.
The lights were off.
It was brighter than a room had any right to be.
Elias walked him there backwards.
He pulled the shirt off and the trousers down with a dreadful patience.
He left only the black silk bow tie hanging loose around Damon's bare neck.
"Just as I said," Elias murmured.
"You're such a showman."
"Face the glass."
Damon turned.
The glass was cold on his palms and his chest.
He saw himself in it, a naked pale shape with the whole city laid out behind his reflection.
Behind him stood Elias, still dressed, huge and calm, looking at him with something close to reverence.
Elias took off his jacket and hung it on the chair.
He undid his cufflinks, put them in the dish, rolled his sleeves.
Damon watched every movement in the window.
"You're doing it on purpose," he said. "Making me wait."
"Yes."
"I'll never forgive you," Damon said.
