Ansel got out of bed.
He crossed the room naked and stopped in front of Torin, close enough to touch.
He was nineteen, and Torin was twenty-one, and he had never said anything out loud.
"Because I wanted to," he said.
Torin stared up at him.
"In August, you stood across the street from Marsh Hall while I carried a lamp up the steps.
"I saw you.
"I thought you were the scariest person I'd ever seen."
"I was."
"I thought about it all week."
Ansel's voice shook, and he let it.
"I've never had anybody look at me like that.
"I'm the quiet one.
"I'm the one people forget to invite.
"You took my sweater and my notes and my key, and I should have been terrified.
"I wasn't.
"I was relieved."
Torin's throat worked.
"That's sick."
"I know."
