Chapter 16: Only Words

"Lie back," Hinata said. "Put your hands under your thighs."

Mai lay back on the pillows with her glasses on and her legs bent, naked and open, and slid both hands beneath her own knees.

The lamp had burned low.

Hinata knelt at the foot of the bed in her unbelted under-robe.

She was a hand's width from Mai's feet, with her hair spilled forward over one shoulder.

"Don't move them," Hinata said. "I won't tie you tonight. You'll do it because I asked."

"Why?"

"Because I'm going to touch you nowhere at all."

Mai's breath caught.

"Not with my hands. Not with my mouth. I'm going to sit here and talk."

"That's not..."

"You're twenty-six, and you've been good your whole life, and no one has ever told you so out loud for long enough."

Hinata's voice dropped, soft and low and certain.

"Tonight I'm going to tell you until you can't stand it."

Mai opened her mouth to say that it wouldn't work.

"Good girl," Hinata said.

Heat rolled through Mai's belly.

"See?" Hinata smiled. "That's enough. I have a great many."

She sat back on her heels and let her gaze travel slowly down Mai's body.

She looked at the small breasts, and the flat tight stomach, and the place between her open thighs.

"You're wet already," she said. "Look at you. You're glistening."

"Hinata."

"You walked up that aisle today and you didn't even know you were doing it."

"Two hundred people watching, and you stood at my shoulder like you'd been born there."

Mai's nipples tightened, and she hadn't been touched at all.

"That was brave. That was so brave, Mai. You were so good."

"Stop."

"Liar. Your hips are begging me."

Mai pressed her lips together, and her hips lifted a little off the sheet.

"Don't stop."

"Then be quiet and let me say it."

Hinata's voice was warm as bathwater.

"You've held still for me for ten whole minutes, and you didn't once ask to be let off."

"You never ask anybody for anything, so I'm going to hand it to you."

Mai's eyes stung.

Her thighs trembled where they pressed against her own hands.

"Thank you," Hinata said. "Thank you, Mai. You're so good. You're the best person I've ever met, and you're all mine."

Something cracked and ran hot beneath Mai's ribs.

She made a small sound, half a moan and half a sob, and her hips rolled up into the empty air.

"Oh, you love that," Hinata murmured. "Look at you shaking."

She lifted one hand to her own breast and cupped it through the loose robe, slowly, thumb dragging over the nipple.

"I'm touching myself," she said. "Do you see?"

"I see."

"I'm so wet watching you. I'm wet just from how good you are."

Mai's whole body lit.

She could not take her hands from under her thighs, and she could not stop looking.

Hinata slid her robe off one shoulder, and then the other.

It pooled at her waist, and her full breasts were bare and rosy in the low light.
