Go stepped out of the tent flap before the reporters reached it.
He had ash on his suit and a crooked helmet strap under his chin.
He stood with his arms folded in front of six cameras.
"Nobody speaks to Hunter Yoon today," he said. "Not one question. My finding will be read at the Association hall in Jongno on Thursday."
"Is it true he carried the blight, Inspector?" someone shouted.
"Thursday."
"Is he still a deserter?"
"Thursday," said Go, and he did not move until they lowered their cameras.
On Thursday the memorial hall in Jongno was full.
Seon-ho sat in the third row with Da-bin, in a clean smock under a borrowed jacket.
He held his own hands in his lap so they would not shake.
Tae-hwan sat alone at the long table at the front.
He wore the charcoal coat and no gloves.
His hands lay on the wood in plain sight, palms up, the left one with its thin pink line.
Every eye in the room went to them first.
Behind him on the wall hung the framed photographs of the five faces.
