The video stopped after nearly two minutes, and the screen went black.
For a while the only sound was the dryers turning in the laundromat downstairs.
Gyeol was crying without any noise.
Ha-yeon set the pink phone down on the low table very carefully.
"You carried the children out," she said. "Two at a time."
Woo-seok looked at his own hands.
He still didn't remember doing it.
"Your sister held that door open for you," Ha-yeon said.
"And the lamp in the case is mine."
"Yes."
"The attempt today was never about the master," Woo-seok said. "He wanted the floor swept."
"He saw her filming through the little window," Ha-yeon said. "For ten years he didn't know if that phone still worked."
Gyeol wiped his face on his hoodie sleeve.
"Then we post it," he said. "Tonight. Everybody sees it by morning."
"And by noon they say it's a fake," Woo-seok said. "Then it's a fake forever."
"So we take it to the Association."
"The Association's lab belongs to the Director," Ha-yeon said. "The Director built a glass tower around that photo."
