Chapter 8: Silk

Ye-won didn't tell Tae-oh about the debt.

She told herself it was because a director keeps her actor calm before the shoot.

The truth was that she couldn't say the number out loud to someone who could pay it with his pocket change.

On Wednesday night she brought out the silk.

The wardrobe department had lent her six scarves for the restraint scene on page forty-five.

They were long and heavy, in cream and gray.

Tae-oh sat on the edge of her narrow iron bed in his boxers, reading the scene.

"The widow ties his wrists to the bedposts," he said.

"Yes."

"And she doesn't let him come."

"Yes."

"For ten minutes of screen time."

"The director wants it to look like torture." Ye-won snapped a scarf taut between her hands. "I want it to be torture."

He looked up.

His lip curled, just slightly, in a smile she hadn't seen before.

"Yes, director."

"Take off your underwear."

He did.

"Lie back. Wrists up."

He stretched out on her thin gray sheet with his arms above his head, and his cock lay hard against his stomach.

She climbed up beside him, looped a scarf around his left wrist, and tied it to the iron rail.

Then she did the right.

She tested each knot with a tug.

"Too tight?"

"No."

"Tell me if it is. You don't have to be brave."
