Chapter 5: The Room Across the Hall

His mouth was warm and careful for a moment.

Then I grabbed his tie and pulled, and the care went out of him all at once.

He kissed me.

My back hit the door of my bedroom.

I heard it click open behind me, and we fell inside.

"Katie," he said against my mouth. "Wait."

"No."

"You hit your head."

"My head isn't the part of me that wants this."

He laughed, a short rough sound, and pressed his forehead to mine.

His breath was unsteady.

"You don't remember me," he said.

"I remember your hands," I said. "You picked up my sketchbook with them. I've thought about them for a month."

I took one of them and put it on my waist, under the sweater.

He went completely still.

Then his palm spread over my ribs, over the bandage, and slid up.

I made a noise I had never made out loud in my life.

"Say it again," he said.

"I want you."

"Louder."

"I want you to take me to bed, Colin."

He lifted me off the floor.

I wrapped my legs around his hips.

He carried me across the room and laid me down on that smooth white bed and ruined it.

He pulled my sweater over my head.

He looked at me, and the air went out of his chest.

"Beautiful," he said, rough. "You have no idea."

His mouth went to my throat and then my collarbone and then the soft skin over my bra.

I arched up into him.

My hands were already at his shirt, tearing at the buttons, and they knew exactly where to go.

They went to the scar on his left shoulder blade and the dip of his spine before my brain caught up.

He heard my little gasp.

"What?" he said.

"My hands know you," I said. "I don't."

"Then learn me."

He stripped fast.

His body was lean and hard and long, with dark hair down his stomach, and his cock was thick and already straining against his boxers.
