"Yes," said Zhuyuan, and his voice dropped into his chest.

She sat back on his stomach and looked at him.

His arms were stretched long over his head, the muscle drawn tight under the skin.

The white scar over his rib stood out in the lamplight.

"All day," she said, "you said yes to a hundred and four people."

"A hundred and five. The man with the fish."

"Tonight you say yes to one."

She laughed and pulled the shift over her head.

She dropped it on his face.

He shook it off with a groan and stared at her, naked over him, and pulled once at the cord without meaning to.
