Chapter 10: Half a Portion

Jo's POV

In the morning Mason made coffee in a kitchen as big as my old apartment, in yesterday's trousers and no shirt.

I sat on a stool at the island wearing his white shirt and nothing else.

"I heard you on the phone last night," I said. "I heard my name."

He didn't turn from the machine.

"The roof on the Wing. The contractor needed the old Pennock file for the permit."

"At three in the morning?"

"He keeps strange hours."

It was easy to believe.

I wanted to believe it, so I did.

He brought me a cup and set it down, and I put my palm flat on the counter.

"I've got a one-thing-a-day deal with a man who owes me a bill," I said.

"I never agreed to the bill."

"Invoice me."

I said it the way he'd said it in the elevator.

His eyes dropped to the open collar of his shirt on my body, and he put the coffeepot down very carefully.

"That's today's thing?"

"That's today's thing."

I slid off the stool and walked around the island.

I took hold of his belt and turned him, and pushed him against the marble with his back to me.

"Jo."

"Hands on the counter."

His hands went flat on the stone.

I pulled his trousers down his hips and he stood there with his head bowed, breathing.

I ran my hands up the backs of his thighs, over his ass, and I felt him shake.

"You said however I want it," I said. "I want you to stay right there."

I reached around and took his cock in my fist.
