Chapter 17: Knees
Isaiah stood at the end of the dock with the lantern at his feet.
He did not turn when I came out in Lucius's towel.
"It is time," he said again.
"For what?"
"For the four of us to quit saying we are sorry and ask you what you want."
"Inside," I said.
The camp's front room had a stone fireplace and a braided rug and one huge leather armchair with a quilt over the arm.
Lucius had lit two lamps.
Calvin stood by the sofa with his glasses back on, and Abner stood by the door with his arms folded over his bare chest.
I dropped the towel on the floor.
Nobody moved.
I sat down in the armchair, naked, with the whistle lying cold between my breasts, and I put my feet flat on the rug.
"Abner," I said. "Kneel."
He did not move.
"You said you weren't sorry for the motion. You said you were sorry for the cost."
"I did," he said.
"Then kneel and pay it."
His jaw flexed.
He crossed the rug and went down on both knees in front of me, stiffly.
He had not knelt for anyone in thirty years.
"Closer."
He shuffled closer.
I slid forward on the leather and pulled him up by his belt until he knelt upright between my thighs.
I opened the belt myself.
"You still call me young lady," I said.
"I do."
"Then say it while you fuck me."
I slid off the chair onto his thighs and took him in my hand.
He was already hard, thick and hot and flushed, and I settled onto him slowly and let him fill me.
He groaned, and his big hands clamped on my waist.
Kneeling, with me in his lap, he was nearly my height.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and rose and sank, and I felt every inch of him drag through me.
I put my mouth on his throat and sucked until I felt the skin rise, and he growled and bucked.
"Mark me where it shows," he said.
"Everybody will see."
"Let them see."
I sucked a second mark under his jaw, deeper than the first.
