Chapter 23: Come In

It was three in the morning when the van stopped outside the brownstone, and rain was falling again.

Lucas climbed the stoop and unlocked the red door.

Behind him the three of them stood on the bottom step, in the wet, side by side, the way they had stood the first night.

Nobody stepped up.

Noah's hair was plastered to his forehead, and Thomas had his hands in his pockets.

Luke looked at the sill.

"Habit," Thomas said, with a small smile. "House rule."

Lucas laughed, and it came out unsteady.

"I know the rule," he said. "I wrote some of them."

He held the door wide.

"Come in."

They came up the steps together and crossed the threshold, and the hall light caught their faces.

Lucas shut the door and turned the bolt.

Then Noah's hands were on his face, and Noah was kissing him against the wood, wet and urgent and shaking.

Lucas kissed back with his fingers in the soaked black hair.

Luke's arms came around his waist from behind, and Luke's mouth found the side of his neck.

Thomas dropped to his knees in the hall and began, with great concentration, to unlace Lucas's boots.

"No orders tonight," Lucas said into Noah's mouth.

Noah went still.

"None. I'm not in charge of anything. I want you to take what you want, all of you, and I'll tell you yes."

Luke's breath hitched against his neck.

"Say it again."

"Yes. To everything. Take me upstairs."

They did not make it all the way up the stairs.

Noah got Lucas's shirt open on the landing, and Luke peeled it off him on the next flight.

Thomas had his jeans down around his ankles before they reached the bedroom door.

They fell onto the bed in a heap, wet through, laughing and kissing, and the springs shrieked.

Lucas lay on his back with the three of them kneeling over him, and for a moment nobody moved.

"Look at you," Noah breathed. "God. Look at you."

Thomas bent and licked a slow stripe up Lucas's stomach.

Lucas arched.

"There," Thomas murmured. "That's what you do to us."

Noah took his mouth again, deep and open.
