Chapter 9: The Saint and the Prince
The whole keep stood in the courtyard to meet the Crown Prince.
Rina stood in front of them in the green dress with her hair still damp, and Kaldrith stood half a step behind her left shoulder.
His hand sat on her lower back.
It was a small thing, just warm weight through the cloth, and she was grateful for it.
The gilded coach drew up on the cobbles.
Lysander Oriel stepped out first.
He was tall, with short golden hair and a blue uniform coat.
His jaw was so square it looked carved.
In the game he had a voice that made players swoon.
In person it was just very loud.
"Prince Kaldrith," he said, and his hand went to his sword. "I have come to take the Lady Wynne home."
"The Lady is not called Wynne," Rina said.
Every head in the courtyard turned.
She walked forward alone, down three stone steps, until she was standing in front of the Crown Prince.
