Chapter 23: The First Star
"Tonight you don't do anything," Cas said. "Tonight you lie back."
I lay back against the pillows in Stan's iron bed.
The lamp was on, and the green wool dress was already on the floor.
I wore only my stockings.
I was thirty-five weeks along, with a belly that rose high and round under the lamp.
My back ached in the best way.
Three men knelt around me on the old chenille spread, with their shirts open.
"We have a plan," Rudy said.
"I'm afraid."
"You should be. It's slow."
Joey was at my feet.
He took my left foot in both hands and rubbed his thumbs up the arch, hard, where it hurt.
I groaned out loud.
"Oh, God. Joey. Don't stop."
"Cas said slow," Joey said, and kissed my ankle.
He peeled the stocking down my calf an inch at a time and kissed every new inch of skin.
At my shoulder Rudy lowered his face and kissed my mouth, and the taste of the sweet wine from Wanda's table was on him.
"Merry Christmas, Renia," he said.
"It isn't midnight yet."
"Close enough."
His beard dragged down my throat.
He took my breast in his hand, heavy now and aching, and bent and took the nipple between his lips.
It was so sensitive that I cried out.
"Too much?" he whispered.
"No. More."
He gave me more.
He sucked slowly, and rolled the other with two fingers, and my whole body softened and opened.
Between my knees, Cas had settled down on the spread.
He put one hand under each thigh and lifted my legs over his shoulders.
He looked at me, at the curve of my belly and the flush on my chest and my open legs.
"God," he said. "Look at you."
"You've seen me."
"I haven't stopped seeing you since January."
