On Monday at five to nine I stood at the back of the fourth floor, next to the copier, in my best cardigan.
Gus had signed me in as a visitor and then looked very hard at the ceiling.
The lead investor stood beside me in her running shoes, holding nothing.
"Don't wave," she said. "He's less likely to see you."
Forty people stood in a loose half circle in front of the big wall screen.
They were whispering about Friday, and about the woman in the cream suit who had been walked out through the lobby.
Dash came out of his glass office at nine exactly.
He had on the same hoodie as the day I met him, and he had not shaved.
His shoelaces were undone.
He did not look toward the copier, and I understood that he was working hard not to.
