Chapter 10: Hyung

They did not make it past the door.

Seo-won's back hit the inside of it.

The keys fell somewhere on the floor, and Tae-min's mouth was on his before the latch caught.

It was nothing like the kiss in the rain.

That one had been a question.

This one was an answer, hot and deep and unhurried, and it went on until Seo-won's knees forgot their job.

"I've waited four years for this," Tae-min said against his lips, breathing hard. "I'm not going to stop."

"Don't you dare stop."

Tae-min laughed, low and unsteady, and pushed the suit jacket off Seo-won's shoulders.

It hit the floor.

His tie went next, drawn slowly through the collar.

Tae-min handled it as the one gift he had been sure he would never get.

"I should tell you something," he said. "So you don't hear it wrong later."

"Tell me."

"I've never done this. Not with anyone."

Seo-won stared at him.

"You're twenty-nine."

"I was busy waiting for a man who kept saying no." Tae-min's ears went red, and he grinned anyway. "I'm not sorry. I'd just like you to know I might be bad at it."

"Then we're the same," Seo-won said.

His voice was not steady.

"Nobody has ever touched me. I never let them near enough."

"Not once?"

"Not once. I thought it was something I was missing. It was you I was missing."

Tae-min's face broke open.

"Okay," he said hoarsely. "Okay. Then we find out together."

"I'd like to lead," Seo-won said.

He meant it.

He had led every room he had ever stood in, and the habit came up in him fast, before the fear.

"Go ahead," Tae-min said.

Seo-won took his shirt in both fists and pulled it up over his head.

For one second he stood there with it in his hands, looking at all that broad warm chest, and forgot what came next.

A burn mark ran along the ribs on the left side.

A longer scar curved over the shoulder.

He did not know the stories of either, and he wanted every one.

"You're staring," Tae-min said.

"I'm planning."

"You look like you're reading a drawing upside down."

Seo-won laughed, and the laugh shook, and Tae-min caught his face between both hands.

"Hey. You're shaking."

"I'm not."

"You are, a little." His thumbs moved over his cheekbones. "So am I."

"I want it to be you," Seo-won whispered.

"I think I've wanted it for longer than I knew the word."

After that there was no more talking, for a while.

The apartment was dark, but for the glow of the city through the skylight.

They crossed it in pieces.

A shirt over a chair.

A belt across the drafting table, knocking a pencil to the floor.

The bed was narrow and low, with a blue quilt Seo-won's grandmother had made.

Seo-won pushed him down onto it and climbed over him, and for a short while it went his way.
