On Tuesday morning the lobby of Daeyang Tower was full of cardboard boxes.
Men and women in plain dark suits with lanyards were wheeling them out of the elevators on trolleys.
"Financial Supervisory Service," So-hee whispered, delighted, beside Ji-an. "They've been here since Friday. Because of you."
"Because of Hanoi."
"Because of you saying Hanoi."
Tae-gyeom walked past the inspectors and pressed the button for the top floor.
He was wearing a black suit and a black shirt again, buttoned all the way up.
He had been on the phone with lawyers until three in the morning, and he hadn't explained more than one sentence of it to Ji-an.
"Daeyang lent Hanseong a hundred and forty billion for your hill," he'd said. "If I own that loan, nobody builds anything on it without me."
The chairman's office had a view of Namsan and a desk the size of a small boat.
Chairman Yoon sat behind it, grey-faced. He looked ten years older than he had at the auction.
Jae-hyuk stood at the window with his arms folded. He was in his good grey suit again.
