Chapter 18: The Last Afternoon
The afternoon sun came through the window in a wide gold block and lay across the bed.
I lay in it on my back with my hair spread over his pillow.
Tavish lay beside me, propped on one elbow, with the light on his chest.
It was three hours to moonrise.
Neither of us had said so.
"Turn over," he said.
"Why?"
"Because I want my hands on you."
I turned onto my stomach and folded my arms under my cheek.
He took a bottle of oil from the nightstand, and I heard the cap click.
The first stripe of it was warm, running down the length of my spine.
His palms followed.
He worked my shoulders, thumbs pressing circles into the muscle, then my lower back, then the sides of my ribs.
I melted into the mattress.
He slid his hands lower and kneaded my ass, slow and firm, and parted me with his thumbs.
A bolt of heat shot through me.
"Tavish."
"Quiet. I'm working."
"You're torturing me."
"Yes."
He ran an oiled finger down between my cheeks and over my wet center, and I gasped and lifted my hips.
He took his hand away.
"Turn back over."
I turned.
My skin gleamed gold, and he looked at me.
"Come here," I said.
"I'm here."
"Closer."
He leaned over and kissed me, slow and thorough, with the heat of the sun in his mouth.
I tangled a hand in his hair.
"I want to taste you," I said. "I want you to sit on my face."
His eyebrows went up.
"Is that what you want?"
"It's the last afternoon."
