Chapter 7: Laces
"Wrists," I said.
Axel held them out in front of him.
It was the night after Chicago.
He was standing in the middle of my room above the skate shop with his coat still on and snow melting in his beard.
I had two pairs of white laces in my hand, long ones, waxed and braided, the kind I used on my own boots.
"What are those?" he said.
"Skate laces."
"I can see that."
"Then you know what they're for. Take your coat off and lie down."
He took his coat off.
He took his shirt off.
He lay down on my narrow bed on his back.
He looked at the ceiling and then at me, and his chest was already rising and falling too fast.
"Arms over your head," I said.
He raised them.
I wrapped the first lace around his left wrist, twice, and then once more for luck.
I tied it to the wooden rail of the headboard with a knot I'd been tying since I was six.
I did the right.
I pulled each knot tight and tested it with two fingers.
"They'll hold," I said.
I stood up and looked at him.
He was laid out across my bed, six foot three of solid muscle.
His arms were stretched above his head, and his wrists were bound in white laces.
His cock lay hard against his stomach with a drop of wet already shining at the tip.
He pulled once at the knots, testing.
They held.
His chest rose and fell in a shudder.
"I thought about this," he said.
"Did you."
"In the shower. In my truck. I thought about you tying me to something and just." He stopped. "Doing whatever you wanted."
"You thought about it before tonight?"
"I've thought about everything," he said. "For three years, there wasn't anything else to think about."
