We rehearsed the wedding forty times, and the only part we did not rehearse was the part that mattered.
I had run the dock walk a dozen times, the howl nine times and the loaf eight times.
The wedding was on the lodge dock at Kettle Lake, the same dock where the canoe had gone back, on Saturday at four.
At ten to four, three hundred people sat on the lawn in folding chairs.

A child had put a kickball under the plank, and I kicked it.
