Chapter 8: The Packing Shed
The steel table was cold against my back, and I did not care.
Reuben had the little purple bullet in his hand, and the look on his face was one I wanted to keep forever.
The old blueberry packing shed off the Tabernacle road had been empty since August.
It smelled of cedar crates and dust and a little of the forklift diesel.
A long steel sorting table ran down the middle of it, under the skylights.
Reuben had brought a load of boom cedar to store here, and he had a key.
I had a sweater pushed up to my collarbone and nothing else on at all.
"Tell me what you like," he said. "You promised."
"I did."
"So tell me."
"Start at my knee," I said.
He clicked it on.
It buzzed in the quiet, small and fierce, and he set it against the inside of my knee and let it rest.
I felt it all the way up my leg.
"Higher," I said.
He dragged it slowly up my inner thigh, a finger's width at a time.
The tiny vibration traveled through the skin and muscle.
My hips lifted off the steel, and I made a sound that rang off the rafters.
"Like that?" he asked.
"Like that. Slower. Stop when I say."
"When you say."
"Now my breasts," I said. "Both of them. Take your time."
He set the bullet against my left nipple.
It hardened at once, and the buzz ran straight down between my legs, and I gasped.
He circled it slowly, and then he did the right.
Then he bent and took the left in his mouth, with the toy still humming against the right.
"Reuben. Oh, that's, both at once," I said.
"I thought you'd like it."
"I love it. Don't stop."
He grinned against my skin.
He sucked and teased until I was writhing and pulling at his hair.
Then he drew the bullet lower, across my ribs and my stomach, and brought it back to my thigh.
