By nine on Wednesday, thirty reporters were standing in the lobby of Ryerson Tower where I had been dragged out.
The article was on every screen.
It said "sources close to the family" believed an illustrator had borrowed a friend's badge, ambushed a grieving billionaire, and forged a romance for money.
It had been written by someone who knew exactly what I had worn.
"Say nothing," said a young man from the company's press office, wringing his hands. "Mr. Ryerson's counsel will issue a statement."
"Mr. Ryerson's counsel did not have her face on a tabloid," I said.
Margaret stood at the mezzanine rail above the lobby, leaning on her cane.
"Let her go down," she said, to no one and everyone. "I want to see what a Rowe does with a microphone."
