Chapter 8: The First Knot

"That's your knot," I said.

I said it as steadily as I could, with my hands on his chest and his cock swelling thick and hot inside me.

"It won't hurt you. It won't hurt me. Don't pull out."

"I can't pull out," Declan said. His voice cracked in the middle. "It's... Lowen, it's getting bigger."

"I know. I can feel it."

I could feel all of it.

The base of him was ballooning, a hard, hot fullness that spread me wider than anything had.

It pressed on a place inside me that made me gasp.

I groaned and dropped my forehead onto his collarbone.

"Oh, fuck," I said. "Oh, that's so much. That's so good."

"Is it supposed to feel like this?"

"I don't know. I've never done this before either."

His arms came around me, shaking, and held on.

"Breathe," I said. "Same as the loft. In."

He breathed in.

"Out."

He breathed out.

"Good. Now stay still. We're tied. It lasts a little while."

"How long?"

"Longer than you'll want. Not as long as I'll want."

He laughed, a wet, broken sound, and I realized his cheeks were wet.

I lifted my head.

His grey eyes were open and streaming.

Tears ran sideways into his hair.

His mouth was open, and he stared at the ceiling.

"Declan."

"I'm all right."

"You're not all right. You're crying."

"I'm fine," he said, and a sob tore out of him, big and ugly.

I put my hands on his face.

I held it and kissed his wet cheeks and his temple and his mouth, tasting salt.

My hips moved without my deciding it, a slow rock against the knot.

We both moaned.

"Don't," Declan gasped. "Don't stop. It's... it feels like I've been... underwater."

"Tell me."

He took a long, shuddering breath.

"There was a root cellar behind our father's barn," he said.

"When I was ten he sat me in it with a cloth that smelled of an Omega. For two hours."

"I wasn't allowed to move, or react, or make a sound."
