Chapter 18: The Floor

Unai asked me on the seventeenth step, and I answered by pushing him onto the floor.

He had come down at midnight, after Aritz barred the door and went off to his own corner of the tower.

He stopped on the last stair with the lamp.

"At the Batzar," he started, "when the book is open, there's a thing that I would like to-"

I did not let him finish.

I put my palm flat on his chest and shoved.

He went down on his back on the cheese-cellar flags with a grunt of surprise.

The lamp rolled and did not break.

I had spread my cape on the stone there an hour earlier, on purpose, and he landed on the wool.

I straddled his hips.

I pulled his shirt up over his head and flung it onto a cheese tub.

I bent and bit the muscle at the top of his chest, and soothed it with my tongue, and his hips jumped under me.

I kissed my way down the line of dark hair on his belly, and took one flat nipple between my teeth, and tugged.

"Nahia," he said, thick. "Listen, there's a thing I-"

I licked his nipple, and his words went out of him in a groan.

"You talk too much," I said.

"You said you liked it."

"I like it when you talk about my body."

His mouth quirked, and his hands settled on my knees.

"Then I'll talk about your body," he said, "if you'll take your shirt off."

I took it off.

I pulled it over my head and dropped it on his face, and he laughed into the cloth and pulled it away.

He stopped laughing when he saw me.

I had my hands on my own breasts, and I held them, and watched him watch.

"Look," I said.

"I'm looking."

"You've had your mouth on them. You haven't had them any other way."
