Chapter 5: Raw Files

I read the first fifty comments on Kelsey's post standing in the lounge doorway.

*Roommate from hell.*

*Imagine filming a girl with a medical condition. Disgusting.*

*Whoever this Jessa is, I hope she gets expelled.*

I had read these exact words before, in my first life, from the same strangers.

The difference was that this time I was holding the footage.

I posted it under her post at 3:40 in the morning.

It was all three clips, unedited, with the file times visible in Casper's screen recording.

I wrote only two sentences.

*Raw files. Nothing cut. Watch her eyes, and watch what she does with the Coke.*

Then I put my phone down and went to find a hoodie.

By six, the post had four hundred thousand views.

I know because Casper knocked on the door with his laptop open and his glasses crooked.

"Look at the comments," he said.

*Wait, she checks the camera before she swings. That is not sleepwalking.*

*The Coke can!! She poured it perfectly. Not a drop on her own stuff.*

*Why did she hum the SAME song?*

*Everyone who told this girl to let it go owes her an apology.*

The top comment had eleven thousand likes.

It said: *The $9,800 watch is the one she hit first. She knew exactly what she was doing.*

"Her friends are still defending her," Casper said. "Look."

A girl from Kelsey's sorority had written: *The film guy probably edited it. AI can fake anything now.*

I turned my phone toward Casper.

"Can you answer that?"

He nodded and typed in the thread.

*I filmed on a phone and a night camera. The original files are on my drive with their time stamps. Anyone from the school can inspect them.*

He hit send, then looked up at me.
