Chapter 9: Clinch

The sauna door shut behind us, and the whole world went to cedar and heat.

We had clinched at seven.

Aili had fed thirty men pasties off paper napkins and tapped a spoon on her mug.

She toasted the girl who put the fear of God into the doctor.

Then she left at eleven with her coat on and a wink for me.

"Don't do anything I wouldn't," she'd said.

"What wouldn't you do?"

"Plenty."

Now the building hummed with nobody in it, and the only light was one small lamp in the ceiling.

I stood in the middle of the little wooden room in a towel.

He leaned on the door in another one, low on his hips, with a sheen of sweat already starting on his chest.

He looked carved out of the cedar.

"Take it off," I said.

He dropped the towel.

I dropped mine.

The heat wrapped around us, and for a moment neither of us moved, because I wanted to look.

His body was a map of everything he'd survived.

The bruised ribs, the lighthouse on his forearm, the scars across his knuckles, the pale seam over his hip.

On the side of his neck, a fresh crescent of my teeth.

He looked back at me the same way, and I felt it.

I crossed the room and put my palm on his chest.

His skin was slick and burning, and his heart slammed against my hand.

I pushed him down on the lower bench and straddled one of his thighs.

I pressed my bare center against the hard muscle, and it was slick with sweat, and I rocked.

He groaned and his head hit the cedar.

"Don't move," I said.

"I'm not."

"Don't touch."

"Vera."

I ground slowly on his thigh, my breasts a breath from his mouth, my hands braced on the wall behind him.

Every pass dragged my clit across his skin.

He watched it happen, his lips parted, his cock rising hard against my hip.
