Chapter 15: Hold Me

Bai Ling lay on her back in the middle of the bed, with the lamp turned low, and watched Meiyin undress.

She did not give an order.

She did not look away.

Meiyin let the robe fall and stood at the edge of the mattress, thirty years old and shaking, with nothing in her hands.

"Come down here," Bai Ling said.

It was a request.

Meiyin climbed onto the bed and lay beside her, and for a moment they only looked at each other.

The sweater was off.

Bai Ling's long hair lay across the pillow, black on white, and her skin had the faint warm flush Meiyin knew from the bath.

"I want to see your face," Bai Ling said.

"All night."

"Okay."

"I want you to look at me while I look at you."

"Okay."

Meiyin put her hand on Bai Ling's cheek.

Then she kissed her, slowly, with her mouth open and no hurry in it at all.

Bai Ling's lips parted under hers, soft and warm and unguarded.

Their tongues touched.

Bai Ling sighed into her.

It was a tender sound, and it hurt Meiyin somewhere under the ribs.

She slid her hand down the pale throat, over the collarbone, to the full soft curve of the breast.

She cupped it and ran her thumb across the nipple until it tightened.

Bai Ling's back arched a little off the sheet.

"Yes."

"Like that?"

"Yes.

Just like that.

Slowly."

Meiyin shifted on her side and took the nipple in her mouth.

She licked it in small circles, and sucked it gently, and felt Bai Ling's fingers slide into her hair.

She moved to the other breast.

Her hand drifted down over the soft belly, over the full curve of the hip, to the inside of the thigh.

Bai Ling's legs opened for her.

"Meiyin."

"I'm here."

"I do not want to be taken tonight."

"What do you want?"

"To be held while you do it."

Meiyin's eyes burned.

She nodded.

She slid down the bed and settled between Bai Ling's thighs, and put her mouth where the heat was.
