Marit's POV
He didn't roll up his sleeve.
He sat on the end of the fifth row in his grey hoodie with his left arm pressed against his ribs, staring at his boots.
I stood in front of him with my hand on my belly and the whole Moot at my back.
"Roll it up," I said.
"Sit down, Marit," Gunnar said from the front tier.
His voice had lost its warmth.
"Don't," Gunnar said to the man in the hoodie, quite flatly.
I had never heard one word carry so much threat.
The man in the hoodie flinched.
He did not look at his Alpha.
He looked, instead, along the row beside him, at the other Bjorklund wolves in their leather and fleece, and I watched him find nothing there.
Two of them were looking at their knees.
One, a heavy man with a grey beard, had edged half a foot away along the bench.
"The Speaker is going to ask you," I said. "It would be better if you showed me first."
The old Speaker came down off the dais.
She did it on her cane, one slow step at a time, with the hall so quiet I could hear the rubber tip on the boards.
She stopped in front of the man.
"Arm," she said.
