Chapter 21: The Night After

Nico shut the penthouse door and pinned me against it.

He didn't kiss me.

He held my wrists above my head with one hand.

He looked at me for a long time, breathing hard, with his forehead almost against mine.

"Say it again," he said.

"Which part?"

"Thirty-one."

"Thirty-one," I said.

A shudder ran through him.

"You stood in front of my father with two guards at your back and did the arithmetic."

"I wanted it on the record."

"You are the most frightening woman I have ever met," he said roughly, and then he kissed me.

It was not gentle.

His mouth took mine open, and his tongue stroked in, hot and demanding, and I moaned into it and arched against him.

He let go of my wrists and dragged his hands down my sides, over the red dress, and found the zipper at my back.

It rasped down.

The dress fell to my feet, and I stood in front of him in nothing but a lace set and Gia's borrowed heels.

"Christ," he whispered.

"Take them off me."

He knelt.

He took the heels off one at a time.

He slid his palms up the backs of my legs, slowly, and put his mouth to the inside of my knee.

I braced my hands on the door.

He kissed higher.

He kissed the crease of my thigh, over the lace, and I felt his breath through it.

Then his teeth closed on the thin fabric and pulled it down.

He pushed my leg over his shoulder.

When his tongue found my clit, I banged my head back against the wood.

"Nico."

"Tell me how."

"Slower. Circle. Oh, God, yes, like that."

He listened.

He did exactly what I said, and when I said harder he gave me harder, and when I said don't stop he held my hips against the door and didn't.
