Chapter 15: No Touching, Jo

I unlocked the alley door again ten minutes later.

Cesare was sitting on the back step with his elbows on his knees.

He had not gone home.

"I told you to go," I said.

"You told me to wait where you said."

"I said go home."

"I'm waiting at the step. That's near enough."

He looked up at me, and his face was so open that I could not stand it.

I took hold of his shirt in my fist and pulled him inside.

He came up off the step without a word.

I shut the door with my hip and put his back against it.

"Jo," he said, very low. "Rule one."

"I'm starting it."

"No touching, Jo."

He said it softly, and he did not move his hands from his sides.

"You're throwing my rule back at me?"

"You made it. I'm keeping it."

"Then keep your hands where they are," I said.

I kissed him.

His mouth was warm and shook against mine, and he made a rough sound in his throat that went straight down my spine.

I pulled his jacket off his shoulders and let it drop.

I dragged his shirt out of his belt and ran both hands up his stomach, over the scar, over the bandage on his arm that was nearly healed.

"Hands," I said against his mouth.

"They're by my sides."

"Good. Don't move them."

I unbuttoned his shirt with my teeth set.

He was breathing hard, and his hands stayed flat against the door.

I pushed the shirt open and put my mouth on his chest, over the place where his heart was kicking.

"Christ, Jo."

"Quiet. Tillie's upstairs."

Her radio was playing through the ceiling, a talk station at full volume.

I took his belt out of its loops and opened his trousers.

His cock was hard and heavy in my hand, and I wrapped my fingers around it and stroked once, slowly, root to tip.

He let his head fall back against the door.
