Chapter 8: The Cloud Bath

The bath at Azure Gate Fort was filled with warm cloud, not water.

It lay soft and white around Mo's chest and glowed faintly.

It was the only thing in the room that wasn't looking at Han.

"Hands on the rim," Han said.

Mo laid both arms along the edge of the marble tub, palms down.

"That's all?"

"For now."

Han stood at the side of the bath in the lamplight, naked, still shaking a little from the long day.

The Court was behind him.

Fu's report was folded in his sleeve, unread.

He had seen enough of the world for one day.

He wanted to see one man, and have that man do exactly what he said.

He stepped into the cloud, and it parted around his legs.

"You're giving orders," Mo said.

"I'm taking something."

"What?"

"Control. I haven't had any since this morning."

Mo's red eyes softened.

"Take all of it," he said. "I'm yours."

Han stood between his knees, knee-deep in glowing cloud, and bent down and kissed him.

It was slow, and deliberate, and he let it go on until Mo's breath had gone ragged.

"Stay still," Han murmured.

"I'm still."

"You're moving your hips."

"I'm... trying."

"Try harder."

Mo's whole body shook with the effort of obeying.

Han took his time.

He sank to his knees in the bath, so the cloud lapped at his ribs.

He ran his hands over Mo's thighs and stomach and chest and drank in every shiver.
